In recent years, Congress and government regulators have recognized that the new world of intentional threats coupled with the complexity of globalization rendered the prior system of food supply oversight inadequate and obsolete. Congress responded by enacting an aggressive new law known as the Food Safety Modernization Act. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) characterizes the law as "the most sweeping reform of our food safety laws in more than 70 years."

The Food Law Forum is designed around a hypothetical brand‐threatening food contamination scenario.

A distinguished panel of nationally recognized food industry experts will discuss in detail how the law, regulations, and guidances affect the food industry. The program will provide industry‐specific information and practical advice on immediate actions that can prevent destruction of brands and disruption to business. With attorneys and regulators increasingly targeting the food industry, the forum will review steps to anticipate and respond to civil litigation and governmental enforcement.
