On Tuesday, April 7, 2015, Justice Anil C. Singh of the New York Supreme Court was appointed to the New York County Commercial Division.  Justice Singh succeeds Justice Melvin Schweitzer, who retired last year.  According to his judicial biography, Justice Singh is a 1986 graduate of Antioch School of Law in Washington, D.C.

After law school, Justice Singh was a Court Attorney for Justice Alice Schlesinger from 1987 through 2002.  In 2003, Justice Singh was elected as a Judge of the Civil Court of the City of New York, New York County.  Justice Singh served in that capacity until 2010, when he was appointed as an Acting Justice of the New York County Supreme Court by Chief Administrative Judge Ann Pfau.  In 2013, Justice Singh was re-elected to the Civil Court bench, before being elected to the Supreme Court in 2014 for a term that expires in 2027.  Justice Singh joins Justices Bransten, Friedman, Kornreich, Marks, Oing, Ramos, Scarpulla and Sherwood on the New York County Commercial Division bench.
