Law firms of all sizes are finding ways to help corporate clients minimize or even cut litigation costs, even keeping them out of court, as companies' in-house law departments are under pressure to control costs.

William Stang notes that Fox Rothschild has found that mediation frequently helps corporate clients avoid or minimize litigation costs.

"A good mediator will bring the parties to a negotiation session, listen to both sides, separate them, point out the strong points and weaknesses of their cases, make separate recommendations via shuttle diplomacy and help parties resolve disputes before litigation starts or at a very early stage of the legal proceedings," Stang explained.
