Scott L. Vernick was featured in the USA Today article, "Leahy Seeks Criminal Penalty for Attempted Hacking." Full text can be found in the January 10, 2014, article, but a synopsis is noted below.

Sen. Patrick, D-Vt. reintroduced his data privacy protection bill to Congress on Wednesday, the fourth time the bill has been proposed.

This version of the bill would create a national standard for loss disclosure and impose data protection standards on businesses that collect and store personal information, while also punishing computer hacking and conspiracy to commit computer hacking with criminal penalties.

With a lack of overall federal notification guidelines, the aftermath of a breach can be hard for affected businesses to navigate. Fox Rothschild has introduced the Data Breach 411 app to help ease the difficulty.

Noted privacy attorney and Fox Rothschild partner Scott L. Vernick spearheaded the creation of the new app, which provides guidance to executives facing the ramifications of a data breach.

The app is available for free in the iTunes Store. To download it, click here.
