New York

A New York tax reform panel recommended  that New York tax digital products. The 11-member commission on Tax Reform and Fairness created by Gov. Cuomo stated that New York loses out on $ 35 million a year by not taxing digital products. However, lawmakers who are up for re-election may prevent the imposition of a tax on digital goods, which would almost certainly be viewed as a new tax.  Be on the lookout for more from Gov. Cuomo on this in his State of the State Address in January.

 Ohio

On October 29, Ohio was approved as a full member of SSUTA. The full membership becomes effective January 1, 2014.  Ohio has been an associate member of SSUTA since 2005.  Ohio's acceptance as a full member is in line with its recent tax legislation, such as the tax imposed on specified digital products.
