Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice Myron Steele is stepping down in November, three years before his term expires. Governor Jack Markell has a few months to find a replacement, but there has been much speculation about Chancellor Leo E. Strine Jr. emerging as a front-runner. 

Williams is in the Judicial Nominating Commission, which is responsible for narrowing down the pool of applicants to three for Markell to choose from.
