CMS has released the October 2013 Medicare average sales price (ASP) file update, which reflects payment amounts be used to pay for Part B drugs for the fourth quarter of 2013. CMS notes that market prices generally remain relatively stable, with average prices for the top Part B drugs decreasing by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter, and prices changing by 2% or less for 31 of the top 50 drugs. This quarter, four drug codes have payment limits that were calculated using CMS's average manufacturer price based price substitution policy, as finalized in the 2013 Medicare physician fee schedule rule.
