United States: Alabama CON Review Board Update - April 2013

The CON Review Board meeting scheduled for April 17, 2013, was canceled due to a lack of quorum. The following items which were to be considered at the April meeting will instead be addressed at the May 15, 2013, meeting.

I. CERTIFICATE OF NEED PROGRAM

1. AL2013-012, Heritage Assisted Living and Memory Care, LLC, Huntsville, AL: Proposes to construct a 16-bed Specialty Care Assisted Living Facility in Madison, Alabama, Limestone County. Thirteen of the beds are part of the need shown according to the statistical update of September 18, 2012, and three are pursuant to Section 410-2-4-.04(2)(d)(7) of the State Health Plan as amended. Opposition: None
2. AL2013-013, ISD Renal, Inc. d/b/a Walker County Dialysis, Jasper, AL: Proposes to relocate from 589 Highway 78 West, Jasper, Alabama to a new location within Walker County, Alabama, and expand its existing 12-hemodialysis-station facility by adding one home training station, which will be used alternately for home hemodialysis training and home peritoneal dialysis training. Opposition: None
3. AL2013-014, DVA Renal Healthcare, Inc. d/b/a Red Mountain Home Training Dialysis, Birmingham, AL: Proposes to establish a new End Stage Renal Disease Home Training Facility to provide both home hemodialysis training and home peritoneal dialysis training. The new facility will consist of six home training stations to be relocated from Magic City Dialysis and four home training stations to be relocated from the now-closed Birmingham Home Training Dialysis. Opposition: None

RV2013-011, Renal Treatment Centers-Southeast, LP d/b/a Geneva Dialysis requests to establish and operate a new 10-station dialysis facility consisting of nine hemodialysis stations and one isolation station in Geneva County.

RV2013-012, Restore Therapy Outpatient requests to establish an outpatient therapy clinic providing physical therapy services in Moundville, Hale County, Alabama.

RV2013-015, St. Vincent's Birmingham requests to relocate the existing oncology services to an existing building on the campus of St. Vincent's comprised of three condominiums. St. Vincent's will own Condominium A, which will consist of the radiation oncology bunkers, and Condominium B will be leased by St. Vincent's from MCS, LLC (a wholly owned subsidiary of the St. Vincent's Foundation), which will consist of the Cancer Center. Condominium C will be owned by Johnson Development, LLC and will house physicians' offices.
