The incoming chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), sent a letter on January 10 to Energy Secretary Steven Chu advising the agency to not grant export licenses for liquefied natural gas until the deficiencies of an agency-sponsored study are corrected. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is planning to introduce legislation in February to impose a carbon fee, and the National Climate Assessment Development Advisory Committee released a draft of its National Climate Assessment on January 11.
