Chris Hart and Colin Zick, both Partners at Foley Hoag and Co-Chairs of the Privacy and Data Security Practice joined Mass Technology Leadership Council for their regular update on CCPA and other global and state privacy regulations.

This program, which was planned prior to the COVID-19 outbreak in the US, did provide an update on what California is currently enforcing and who is leading the charge. CCPA came into effect on January 1, 2020 with an enforcement date of July 1, 2020. While there are many facets that will be enforced by California's Attorney General, there are many questions that exist today that did not exist five months ago, including healthcare information obtained through temperature scans and contact tracing.

And while California has the most comprehensive US law, many states will need to grapple with this.
