On July 28, 2021, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it will no longer accept written requests to reschedule biometric services appointments at application support centers. If an applicant needs to reschedule an appointment for biometric services, they must call the USCIS Contact Center (800-375-5283). USCIS's Biometrics Processing Unit in Alexandria, Va., has closed and will no longer accept mail requests for rescheduling biometrics appointments. With this change, USCIS is hopeful it will reduce the amount of paperwork and help more efficiently track requests.

In order to reschedule a biometric services appointment, the applicant must call USCIS before the date and time of their originally scheduled appointment and establish good cause for rescheduling. If the applicant does not follow these requirements and does not appear for their originally scheduled appointment, USCIS may consider the related application, petition, or request abandoned and, as a result, may deny it. Additional information can be found at USCIS's Biometrics Appointment Services webpage

We will continue to monitor any changes in the practices and policies of USCIS.
