The 2016 Edelman Trust Barometer reported that gaining access to education and training was marked out by UK society as the most important issue for business to address. At Deloitte, we are addressing this issue by setting an ambitious goal. One Million Futures is Deloitte UK's new social impact strategy.

Over the next five years our aim is to help one million people get to where they want to be; whether it's in the classroom, the workplace or the boardroom. Aligned to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) we want to reduce inequality by helping people to overcome barriers to education and employment.

We want to raise aspirations, improve skills and develop leaders with our clients, our people and our society

Measuring One Million Futures

One Million Futures brings together a range of existing Deloitte interventions alongside new programmes to support multiple beneficiaries. Our approach to impact measurement therefore needs to take into account the variety of our interventions and the scale and depth of their impact from high volume outreach activity, through intensive skills-development, to full-time job creation.

Our approach is based on a robust measurement methodology - including review and analysis of existing measurement approaches, identifying relevant external indicators to benchmark and an annual independent assurance process.

Look out for regular communication of our progress towards the One Million Futures goal.

Who we work with

Our One Million Futures goal will be achieved through a number of programmes across Deloitte, including our Society Partnerships.

In Spring 2016, our employees voted for our new Society Partners - the 19 charities and eight social businesses we work with alongside our existing 18 Deloitte Access partner schools. The partnerships are aligned to each of our regional offices and London service lines, to make an impact at the local level whilst contributing towards our One Million Futures impact goal.

These relationships are all focused on education and employment and support a range of beneficiary groups including young people, the homeless, carers, schools and training and individuals with learning disabilities.
