The Government recently introduced new immigration fees, effective from Monday 2 April 2007. Their justification for the increase is that the new fees will support the improvement of the UK immigration system for genuine applicants.

The Government consulted on the new charging regime last year, and it claims the fees have been set at a competitive level within a global market.

The new fees for the main types of application are as follows:-
