You may recall that UNISON, one of the UK's largest trade unions, lodged an application last year, calling for a judicial review of the decision made by the Ministry of Justice to introduce fees in the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

The Hearing took place recently, and on Friday it was announced that the High Court had dismissed UNISON's application challenging the introduction of fees for bringing employment tribunal claims.

Among a number of legal arguments, UNISON argued that the introduction of fees would be indirectly discriminatory by having a disproportionately adverse impact on women.

UNISON has indicated that they wish to take the case further to allow the Court of Appeal to consider its arguments.
