The 1997 Conference on Globalisation - 22-24 April 1997 Olympia, London

The detailed programme for The 1997 Conference on Globalisation, the first international forum on the impact of globalisation on the world's securities markets, is now finalised and the names of the major international speakers are being released.

For the first time, under one roof, The 1997 Conference on Globalisation will bring together the most senior representatives of all sectors of the industry. Attending this event will be the major issuers, intermediaries, investors, investment and clearing bankers, custodians, regulators and representatives from financial centres around the world.

The removal of borders to international investment and capital raising has created significant opportunities. Correspondingly, it has also created new types of risk which have at times threatened the foundations of international markets. The 1997 Conference on Globalisation will address the structure and direction of the world's financial markets. For those organisations able to provide global solutions the Conference, and the associated exhibition, provides a unique platform.

Plenary panel sessions at the conference will be chaired by Eudald Canadell, Secretary General, IOSCO (The International Organisation of Securities Commissions), Urs Stahli, Secretary General, ISSA (The International Society of Securities Administrators), and Gerrit de Marez Oyens, Secretary General of FIBV (The International Federation of Stock Exchanges).

The 1997 Conference on Globalisation was conceived and is being organised by International Financial Exhibitions Limited ("IFex").
Commenting on the launch of the Conference brochure, James Harper, Director of IFex, said: "Practitioners in the international financial markets have asked IFex to arrange the Conference to provide a single forum at which the issues surrounding globalisation can be examined and solutions developed. The event will also serve as a platform for financial institutions to exhibit to an audience consisting primarily of financial intermediaries, cross-border issuers and investors who are active in global markets."
