The Eversheds' Planning and Parliamentary Team have advised RWE Npower Renewables Limited in relation to the first ever application to the Infrastructure Planning Commission for a Development Consent Order for an onshore wind farm. The IPC came into operation in March 2010 with a remit to consider applications for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects such as proposals for large onshore wind farms.

The application is for the Brechfa Forest West Wind Farm in Carmarthenshire in South Wales and the proposals consist of 28 wind turbines up to 145 m in height with a maximum installed capacity of between 56 and 84 MW. We are pleased to announce that the IPC has confirmed today, 30 November 2011, that it has accepted this application for the purposes of examination.

We are expecting the IPC to begin their examination process following a preliminary meeting with all interested parties in early 2012. You can find further information regarding this specific application at: http://infrastructure.independent.gov.uk/projects/wales/brechfa-forest-west-wind-farm/
