Welcome to this July 2010 of the Heavyweight. A few points to note this month:

  • The Dwelling Houses (Execution of Possession Orders by Mortgagees) Regulations 2010 come into force on 1 October 2010.
  • A private members bill, the Secured Lending Reform Bill has been presented in the Commons (second reading 22 October 2010).
  • The Insolvency Service has launched a consultation on proposals for a restructuring moratorium.
  • A case (Chapman) that held future property could fall within the definition of "personal chattels" making it possible that an assignment of after-acquired property could be a bill of sale.
