Guidance to public authorities on awarding low value contracts
On 24 July 2006 the European Commission published guidance on how public authorities should award fairly contracts which are of low value. While these contracts do not fall within the EU's public procurement regime, the Commission advises that they should nevertheless be awarded in a transparent and non-discriminatory manner where there is a potential for cross-border interest in the contracts.

Mastercard fee found to infringe UK and EU competition law
On 6 September 2005, the OFT decided that the fee charged by banks issuing Mastercards and paid by the bank of the retailer accepting a Mastercard payment (the "multilateral interchange fee" or "MIF") infringes both the UK and the EC prohibition on restrictive agreements (Chapter I prohibition of the Competition Act 1998 and Article 81 EC Treaty).
