This case from the UK called into question the role of the Human Resources department in providing support and guidance to a decision maker in a disciplinary process. The ruling has implications for HR teams across the board as they are inevitably called upon to provide their expertise in disciplinary matters and advises that the conclusions in a disciplinary process should be reached independently by the appointed decision maker.
