Given the pendency of cases in India and the shortfall in judiciary strength, it may be a good idea to appoint judges on a short-term basis to reduce the backlog of cases in India. This is inspired by how the government has devised a plan to recruit private sector professionals, based on a three-year fixed tenure (extendable up to five years), to fill joint-secretary-level vacancies in the Union government.
