ITV news journalist Alastair Stewart OBE is to host this year's Guernsey Funds Forum in London.

Mr Stewart has worked in the media for nearly four decades and has fronted programmes such as Police Camera Action! but he is most commonly associated with being a presenter of the news on ITV.

He will host the Guernsey Funds Forum 2010 which will take place at the Grange St. Pauls Hotel on Wednesday 26th May.

The half-day conference and exhibition is titled 'Flight to Quality' and will see Guernsey and UK funds experts tackling the key issues facing the investment funds industry at the time of the British General Election and beyond.

"I am very pleased that Alastair Stewart will be hosting this year's Guernsey Funds Forum. He is well known for ensuring that the most difficult questions are fully addressed. I am confident that his style and our interactive format will mean that once again we will have a lively debate involving both the panellists and the audience that gets to the heart of the matters under discussion," said Peter Niven, Chief Executive of Guernsey Finance – the promotional agency for the Island's finance industry.

The conference programme incorporates the sessions 'Transparency' including Bridget Barker from Macfarlanes, 'Distribution' with Scott Cochrane of Herbert Smith and 'Alternatives' featuring Jon Moulton, Better Capital.

There will also be an exhibition of Guernsey service providers, including the Island's leading fund administrators, custodians, legal practices and accountancy firms.

The event is being supported by the Association of Investment Companies (AIC).

Mr Niven added: "Globally the funds industry has had a tough time during the last year to 18 months and there remain challenging issues which need to be tackled. We believe that Guernsey continues to offer great opportunities as a fund domicile and that now is the time for us to step up our marketing as a jurisdiction which offers quality in terms of leading service providers and professional advisers, robust yet pragmatic regulation and high standards of corporate governance."

The Guernsey Funds Forum takes place on Wednesday 26th May 2010 at the Grange St. Pauls Hotel, 10 Godliman Street, London, EC4V 5AJ. For more information about delegate, exhibition and sponsorship opportunities contact Fiona Murray at Orchard Events fiona@orchardevents.com.
