A number of Guernsey-based lawyers have been named among the leading experts in trusts and estates law.

The Legal Media Group's 'Expert Guide', published in June 2009, includes Ozannes' Partner, St John Robilliard and Partners Russell Clark, Paul Buckle and Michael Eades from Carey Olsen.

The publication features only individuals nominated by their clients and professional peers as leading practitioners in their field.

The nomination procedure is rigorous with over 2000 questionnaires being sent to senior in-house counsel, partners at pre-eminent law firms, and other specialists in over 40 jurisdictions and interviews with a select group of specialists in leading commercial centres worldwide.

To appear in the guide, each individual practitioner must meet a strict threshold of nominations from his or her peers after analysis and screening for firm, formal network, group or alliance bias.

Carey Olsen also had two Partners and a Senior Associate from their Jersey office make it into the guide.

John Greenfield, Managing Partner at Carey Olsen, said: "Featuring on this list is a particularly significant achievement as the rigorous selection procedure and robust methodology means that only the best lawyers are nominated.

"Having six of our team make the cut is an endorsement of the levels of service our clients receive from our fiduciary law group. It is a real credit to those involved and to the firm in general and shows the strength in depth we have and how confident clients and colleagues are when instructing us to undertake work for them."

Ozannes also had a Jersey-based Partner feature in the guide.

The firm's Senior Partner, Peter Ferbrache, said: "I am delighted with the recognition given to both St. John Robilliard and Marcus Stone. St. John, who has worked as a Lawyer in Jersey before practising as an Advocate in Guernsey, has extensive and considerable experience which in my view more than merits the recognition given to him. Marcus Stone has a very sharp mind and very detailed knowledge from his Practice in Jersey. It shows the strength of Ozannes as a Channel Island Practice in this very important field of law."
