Guernsey-based Director Tim Lowe, of Avenue Trust Co., has been presented with the BKR International Chairman's Award for outstanding leadership and dedicated service to the association's Trust Management Services Specialists Practice Group.

BKR international is a global accounting association representing more than 160 independent accounting and business advisory firms in 80 countries.

The Chairman's Award is given to one member each year who runs one of the practice groups. These industry-specific groups are closed, allowing members to discuss their specialism in a more open manner.

Mr Lowe admitted he was surprised to receive the award, which he collected at BKR's Worldwide Conference Gala Dinner at Shakespeare's Globe in London.

"To be recognised individually from over 160 businesses and over 500 offices worldwide is amazing. I think the award also demonstrates BKR International's recognition of Guernsey and its position on the world stage, as being a well-regulated transparent international finance centre," he said.

"The aim of the Trust Management Services Specialist Practice Group is to provide a global knowledge platform for member firms in relation to family offices, trusts, companies, foundations, limited partnerships, pensions, succession planning and wealth management. The sharing of knowledge in this way enables all members to be in a position to advise their clients on international solutions based on local knowledge and expertise."

BKR International EMEA Region Executive Director Tim Morris said: "Now in its 10th year, the award was given to Tim because he used his initiative to set up a group, and his dynamic leadership has provided a real service to BKR members."
