The Channel Islands Aircraft Registry (2-REG) has had its first registration from a wide-body aircraft, an Airbus A330.
The off-lease aircraft has been placed on the register at the request of a world-leading lessor and will stay on the register for the period in between the repossession from the old lessee, based in Asia, a maintenance check in the US and the redelivery to the next lessee in the Americas.
An important feature for the lessor, which has taken the registration mark 2-LYSE, was that the airworthiness survey could be performed swiftly by 2-REG surveyors based in Singapore.
Speaking to the Guernsey Press, 2-REG executive director Wim Ovaa said he was extremely pleased with how the Channel Islands Aircraft Registry was developing.
"In less than a year we have taken on new staff and are breaking ground on the types of aircraft we are registering. Feedback we're receiving shows clients are attracted to our swift response times and the smooth manner in which we completed the whole registration process," said Mr Ovaa.
The most recently available figures for 2-REG show that up to the end of August 2014, there had been 22 aircraft registrations since 2-REG's launch in late 2013. These figures do not include the Airbus A330 registration, which took place earlier this month.
