Wyvern Partners, the Mayfair based corporate finance firm, has established a presence in the Channel Islands for the first time through the appointment of Iain Stokes as a special adviser to the group.

Mr Stokes joins Wyvern to provide additional expertise in the fund administration area where he has worked for many years. In his early career he worked in audit and advisory for BDO in Guernsey where he qualified as an accountant and subsequently spent seven years with Guernsey International Fund Managers (GIFM), part of Barings, before joining Mourant International Finance Administration (MIFA) in 2003 as head of its Guernsey office.

In 2008 he became Group Managing Director with responsibility for MIFA's expanding office network covering North America, Europe and Asia and was a member of the senior team that managed the sale of MIFA to State Street Corporation (which completed in April 2010). Mr Stokes left State Street in June 2012 to pursue a career as a Consultant. He holds a range of non-executive directorships on fund management and fund investment companies focussed on alternative asset strategies.

Jonathan Smith, Director of Wyvern Partners and Head of the Trust and Fund Administration practice, said: "The recruitment of Iain as a special adviser demonstrates the commitment of Wyvern to developing our operations in the offshore space and the Channel Islands in particular. We have known Iain for a number of years and he brings to our group the experience, insight and expertise of a first rate industry practitioner. We are delighted to have him on board."

Mr Stokes said: "Wyvern Partners have an unparalleled record of putting together deals in the offshore sector. Their record, which is based on the experience of their senior executives, demonstrates not only an ability to deliver results for their clients but also a level of creativity and insight that I have not seen elsewhere."
