Guernsey has been named International Financial Services Centre of the Year at the Wealth Adviser Awards 2014.

The annual Wealth Adviser Awards recognise excellence among wealth managers and service providers including trust companies, law and accounting firms and international finance centres. Awards are judged through a peer review system whereby Wealth Adviser readers are invited to elect the 'best in class' from a series of categories via an online survey.

Edward Stone, Group Partner at Collas Crill, collected the award on behalf of Guernsey during an awards luncheon held in London at the end of April.

Fiona Le Poidevin, Chief Executive of Guernsey Finance - the promotional agency for the Island's finance industry, said: "Winning this award is a tremendous achievement. To receive such recognition is a major endorsement of the experience, expertise and innovation within Guernsey's financial services sector.

"The past 18 months have seen the Island's private wealth sector introduce the Guernsey Foundations Law, the world's first image rights register and accompanying legislation, and most recently the Guernsey-based Channel Islands Aircraft Registry, the 2-REG. These developments perfectly illustrate how Guernsey continues to evolve its wealth management offering to meet client demands."
