Reinforcing Guernsey Swiss Relationship

Guernsey Environment
Dr Markus Lusser was prime speaker at the first British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Guernsey International Business Association event to be held in the Island recently.

At the time of his visit Dr Lusser was Chairman of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank, a governor of the International Monetary Fund and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements, Basle.

The Guernsey visit, headed by John Takield and Howard Rosen, respectively president and vice-president of the British Swiss Chamber of Commerce, was part of the organisation's programme celebrating its 75th anniversary year.

Mr Rosen said: "There is a long and very special relationship between Guernsey and Switzerland from the first British Governor of the Island, Othon de Grandison, a Swiss nobleman, to the significant presence in Guernsey today of major Swiss banks. The Chamber has already staged seminars in Switzerland about Guernsey but, after 75 years of existence, we thought it was time a Chamber event took place in Guernsey. We hope that this will be the first of many?
