The number of investors in Guernsey collective investment schemes has risen from 73,457 in 1990 to 112,122 at the end of September 1996.
Net new investment in open-ended schemes thus far in 1996 has totalled just over £1billion.
Investors are domiciled around the world, although a good number are UK based or UK ex-pats living abroad. However, the target group of investors are as diverse as the international fund managers and promoters who have launched funds from Guernsey.
Recent trends have pointed towards investors showing strong interest in securities based funds, particularly emerging market funds. The global appeal of Guernsey funds is demonstrated by the fact that some fund groups have investors located in excess of 140 countries.
