Intellectual Property lawyer Nina O'Sullivan has been quoted in Managing Intellectual Property. The article, German Court Rejects ICANN's Injunction Request, explored the implications of the recent ruling against ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) by the Appellate Court of Cologne, which has rejected a request for a preliminary injunction against a domain name registrar that would have required it to collect certain data on new registrants.

Nina commented: "the rejection of ICANN's injunction request thwarted its hopes for early-stage clarity on the complex dilemma presented by the GDPR and WHOIS. But the fight is far from over, because the case will continue on its substantive merits and ICANN is considering further filings before the German courts.

She continued:

"Many rights holders and practitioners feel that ICANN would be better placed focusing its resources away from potentially lengthy court proceedings to reaching consensus with the European Data Protection Board and European Commission on WHOIS compliance with the GDPR."
