Cyprus has achieved a considerable improvement in the ease of doing business, according to the World Bank's "Doing Business Report 2016". The report compares the ease of doing business in 189 countries on the basis of quantitative indicators regarding business regulation and the protection of property rights that allow countries to be objectively ranked and changes to be measured from year to year.

In the 2016 report Cyprus rose from 60th place in the world rankings last year to 47th place this year, and was one of the ten economies with the most marked improvement in upgrading the business environment.
