Australia: Workplace safety event celebrates women
Last Updated: 17 March 2015

The Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention (IFAP) and Kott Gunning Lawyers hosted a unique safety event in support of International Women's Day 2015, last Friday. The event was attended by more than 80 inspiring women (and a few men) passionate about workplace health safety.

Speakers included The Hon Liza Harvey – Minister for Women's Interests, Road Safety, Police, Workforce and Training Development; Erica Smyth – Non-Executive Director and Chairman, Toro Energy and Nicole Ashby – Founder, FIFO Families. The Minister discussed amongst other things how to: bridge the gap between men and women in the workplace, deal with inequality in pay and she also encouraged more women into roles typically reserved for men such as electricians, brickies and draftsmen.

IFAP is a not-for-profit, member-based organisation providing workplace health and safety solutions to all industries. Kott Gunning is a corporate member of IFAP and provides employment law and workplace safety services.

The next Women in Safety event will be in June. For more information about IFAP events please click here
