Guernsey: Carey Olsen Advises Aviva On Takeover Of Friends Life

Carey Olsen is advising Aviva on its on-going takeover of fellow FTSE-100 listed company, Friends Life, for £5.6 billion by way of a Guernsey court sanctioned scheme of arrangement. It is the largest transaction between UK companies in the insurance sector since the merger of CGU and Norwich Union 15 years ago.

The team is led by partner Tom Carey who is advising on the corporate and competition aspects of the deal assisted by Senior Associates Adrian Sarchet, James Stockwell and David Allen. Partner Konrad Friedlaender assisted by Senior Associate Natasha Kapp is advising on the insurance related aspects of the deal.
