Ross returns to BLG's Oil & Gas Group

Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce that Alan L. Ross, partner in the Oil & Gas Group, has returned to BLG after taking a leave of absence to serve as Alberta's Representative in Ottawa for the last two years.

"We are very pleased to welcome Alan Ross back after his leave of absence working for the Alberta government in Ottawa," said David Whelan, regional managing partner for BLG's Calgary office. "A key member of our commercial litigation and government relations groups, he also offers clients extensive regulatory and oil & gas expertise."

As Alberta's Representative in Ottawa, Mr. Ross played an important role in advancing Alberta's strategic and economic interests at a national level. Insights he gained in this role, along with his wide-ranging experience in energy law, mean he brings a unique and valuable set of skills to BLG's clients. He said "It was a privilege to serve with the Alberta Government and I am delighted to return to BLG."

Mr. Ross has extensive experience in oil sands, conventional and unconventional oil and gas, interprovincial pipelines, electricity generation and transmission. He has been consistently recognized as a leader in his field by national and international legal ranking publications. In 2010, he was the recipient of the 2010 Lexpert Rising Stars Award for Leading Lawyers under 40.

Alan was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995, the Law Society of England and Wales in 1999, the Alberta Bar in 2002 and the New York Bar in 2003. Alan obtained his Juris Doctor from Dalhousie University in 1994. Alan also obtained a Masterin Business Administration from Oxford University in 2001.
