Australia: Communications policy debate reinvigorated at Corrs
Last Updated: 6 November 2014

The future of the communications policy landscape in the era of the NBN was discussed at an exclusive boardroom lunch at Corrs Chambers Westgarth this week.

Professor Fred Hilmer AO, academic and business leader, guided the discussion on Vertigan, Harper and the possibilities that lie ahead for the Australian communications industry.

The boardroom lunch attended by leaders of the industry was hosted by Corrs partner Thomas Jones, and the Bureau of Communications Research's Chief Economist and Head, Dr Paul Paterson.

There was debate and discussion around whether current competition policy settings promoted innovation and investment in the telecommunications space and the extent to which sector specific regulation had diverged from the original intentions of the national access regime.

Dr Paterson hopes that the lunch will be the first of many such events and thanked Corrs for its support.
