Last Updated: 16 October 2014

Canberra, 10 October 2014: Clayton Utz has appointed specialist workplace relations lawyer Jennifer Wyborn to head up the firm's Workplace Relations, Employment and Safety (WRES) practice in Canberra.

Jennifer has over 10 years' experience in industrial relations, employment and workplace health and safety law in both government and private practice roles. Most recently she headed up the Workplace Relations practice of a Canberra firm.

Jennifer's broad-ranging experience includes managing large-scale Federal Court industrial litigation, defending discrimination claims in the Australian Human Rights Commission, and representing clients in matters before the Fair Work Commission. Jennifer has also been involved in formulating key pieces of legislation, including developing and drafting criminal penalties applicable under the harmonised Work Health and Safety laws, and sections of the Fair Work Act 2009.

The head of Clayton Utz's national WRES practice group, Saul Harben, said Jennifer's appointment reflected the firm's commitment to the Canberra market as well as strategically recruiting legal talent to meet our clients' needs.

"Our Canberra-based government clients now have access to a dedicated workplace relations specialist who understands the public sector environment and the legal issues relevant to their day-to-day operations," said Saul.

"Both our public and private sector clients will benefit from Jennifer's experience in both front-end policy and drafting as well as back-end industrial relations dispute resolution."

Jennifer said: "Clayton Utz's Public Sector and Workplace Relations practices are the best in the country. I am excited to be able to offer my clients a first-rate integrated service."

Jennifer was recently announced as a finalist in the Young Business Women's category at the 2014 ACT Telstra Women in Business Awards.
