The Building and Construction Industry Payments Amendment Bill 2014 was introduced to Parliament in May 2014. These changes were passed with amendments in the Queensland Parliament on Thursday, 11 September 2014.

Three key areas of reform were identified in the review, appointment of adjudicators, time frames for claimants and respondents, and provision of additional information.

This seminar is aimed at making you aware of these imminent changes, their implications and what you need to do in respect of these changes.


Stephen Pyman | National Head of Construction and Infrastructure | Holding Redlich Lawyers

Stephen practises in the field of building construction and development law. He has in-depth experience in the construction industry spanning over 25 years. He has extensive experience in pre-contract and tender negotiations, contracts and subcontracts. He also has a depth of experience in construction litigation, alternative dispute resolution, mediation, arbitration and adjudication under the Security of Payment Act (NSW) and BCIPA (QLD). He is also author of the three-volume Building Law QLD, published by Thompson Reuters.

Troy Lewis | Partner | Holding Redlich Lawyers

Troy practises in the area of construction litigation, specialising in advising clients on claims involving the Building and Construction Industry Payments Act. Troy has also advised on, and been involved in, applications for judicial review and appeals from adjudication decisions under the Act.

Russell is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor who has worked in the construction industry in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Korea and Australia for more than 30 years. Russell is also the only adjudicator in Australia to be registered in every jurisdiction with Security of Payment legislation.
