Last Updated: 12 August 2014

Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright announced today that it has appointed Hazel Brasington as a partner in the Melbourne office.

Ms Brasington is a highly experienced and well regarded transport lawyer with diverse international and domestic commodities expertise. Her current practice includes contentious and advisory work in international trade, shipping, energy, commodities, ports and logistics.

Ms Brasington was formerly a partner at Holman Fenwick Willan (based in Melbourne) and has also worked at Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst) and Clyde & Co. She is admitted to practice in England and Wales, Hong Kong and Australia.

Wayne Spanner, managing partner in Australia of Norton Rose Fulbright, said Ms Brasington will be a tremendous addition to our successful transport practice.

"We have long been global leaders in transport and shipping advice, and boast some of the best practitioners in the country," Mr Spanner said. "Hazel will bring to us an enviable skill set and quality experience gained in the UK, Asia and Australia over the course of her career."

Ms Brasington said she was looking forward to joining a global legal practice with a proud history in shipping advice.

"Norton Rose Fulbright has outstanding partners in a market-leading shipping practice with genuine international reach," she said. "I very much look forward to joining the team and working alongside Australian head of transport and shipping Ernest van Buuren."

The addition of Ms Brasington marks eight new partners for Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia in 2014, including five lateral appointments. The other lateral partners were Keira Brennan (Brisbane), Ray Giblett (Sydney), Helene Lee (Melbourne) and Adrienne Parker (Perth).
