Cayman Islands: Lolita Bodden Is Chief Officer’s Top Employee For May
Last Updated: 25 July 2014

Smiles, applause and words of congratulations were in abundance when Lolita Bodden, a business adviser with the Department of Commerce and Investment (DCI), was announced as the Chief Officer's Employee of the Month for May.

A surprised Mrs Bodden, who was nominated by one of her colleagues, was told of the Ministry of Commerce's recognition during DCI's staff meeting on Thursday, 17 July. The Ministry's Chief Officer Dr Dax Basdeo, and DCI's Director Ryan Rajkumarsingh, presented the award to her.

'Given our lack of resources and increased obligations, Lolita – although she's the only DCI employee in Cayman Brac – has voluntarily taken on responsibilities that are outside the scope of her normal duties', Mr Rajkumarsingh said.

He added that she is very conscientious about the importance of inward investment, and of small business; as a result, she always promotes these areas, both on and off the job.

'Usually it can be said, "out of sight, out of mind", but not in this case', Mr Rajkumarsingh said. 'Lolita plays a major role in the productivity of the office, despite her distance from the main office'.

Dr Basdeo noted that Lolita works very well with her co-workers and the public because of her cheerful professionalism. 'She's able to work under difficult, high-pressure situations and still attain excellent results', he said.

For her part, Mrs Bodden said it's great to know that her work is appreciated by DCI management and colleagues, as well as by the Ministry.

'It goes without saying that any success or recognition I've achieved is shared by all those persons who continue to support and encourage me, both personally and professionally', she said. 'I'm thankful that Dr Basdeo, Mr Rajkumarsingh and so many others, have confidence in me'.
