Last Updated: 20 April 2014

International law firm Ince & Co announced today the promotion of two lawyers to the partnership with effect from 1 May. The new partners are:

France

Freddy Desplanques – Freddy specialises in customs and excise matters. He was the head of the legal department at Customs and Excise Services in Le Havre for eight years before joining Ince in 2007. His speciality is advising on the Customs and VAT implications of using large yachts in EU waters whether privately or commercially. His previous experience means he is able to advise clients on how to handle a customs inspection and he maintains good working relationships with French Customs Officers in the Mediterranean for this purpose. Freddy is frequently invited to speak at events and provides training sessions in both French and English to a number of high profile clients and industry professionals. In addition, Freddy lectures on French Customs law at the business school of Normandy.

Hong Kong

Su Yin Anand – Su Yin specialises in dispute resolution through litigation, arbitration and mediation. Her core areas of expertise are shipping, international trade and commodities and general commercial disputes. Her shipping practice is broad ranging and she has extensive experience advising clients on charterparty disputes, carriage of goods by sea and cargo claims, ship sale and purchase disputes and asset recovery actions. She also frequently advises clients in relation to debt enforcement arising from cross border insolvency situations. Her international trade and commodities practice covers all aspects including advising on disputes arising from the sale and purchase of mines, offtake agreements and general international sale of goods. Aside from contentious matters, she has also assisted clients in the drafting of their standard bill of lading terms, contracts and charterparty terms.

Su Yin regularly writes articles on the development in shipping law and presents seminars and workshops to shipowners, P&I Clubs and clients in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.

Ince & Co Senior Partner, James Wilson, commented: "I am delighted to welcome Freddy and Su Yin to the partnership. They are each skilled and capable lawyers and join excellent partner teams in France and Hong Kong. Freddy and Su Yin's local and international business experience will be invaluable to our clients as we develop our offering around the world in our chosen sectors."
