China: Hong Kong Centre Of Mallesons Stephen Jaques Ranks In Global Survey
Last Updated: 6 November 2002

In its first year providing a full-service commercial law capability in Hong Kong, Mallesons Stephen Jaques’ Hong Kong centre has been recognised in Global Counsel 3000 released last week.

In the Hong Kong section of the publication Mallesons is given a leading ranking in Construction and a recommended ranking in four other key practice areas including Banking & Debt Finance, Dispute Resolution, Project Finance and IT and Telecommunications.

In Mallesons’ regional expansion announcement in June this year, the firm set out to offer comprehensive and cutting-edge legal resources to international clients undertaking transactions in Asia Pacific and regionally-based clients. This survey, some four months later, shows the firm’s penetration into the market and its commitment to meeting the increasing regional demands from clients.

In commenting on the firm’s success in the Global Counsel 3000 survey, partner-in-charge, Tom Lennox said: "Mallesons has always enjoyed a prized position in the region for its work in Construction with partners David Bateson and Paul Starr acknowledged by the industry as being first rate.

"Our skills in the corporate, finance and telecommunications sectors are wide ranging and have been also been recognised by the market. We are committed to providing the highest standard of legal service in Asia Pacific and we will continue to be focused on servicing our clients’ diverse commercial needs in this region."

Mallesons’ boosted presence in Hong Kong benefits clients operating in Asia Pacific and is further enhanced by the on-the-ground presence of key partners including Robert Milliner (Projects, Energy and Resources); Adrienne Showering (Securitisation); Richard Mazzochi (Banking and Finance) and Stephen Mead (Corporate and Commercial and Telecommunications).

Along with its clear leadership in Australia (as rated by this Global Counsel survey), Mallesons is further consolidating its position as an international law firm with a heightened focus on Asia Pacific.

Global Counsel 3000 is published annually by UK publisher PLC Publications, and covers over 60 jurisdictions of law around the world.
