Ukraine: Nataliya Mykolska Spoke At ZED Forum 2014 - Exporters Facing New Challenges
Last Updated: 3 April 2014

Nataliya Mykolska, counsel with Sayenko Kharenko, moderated a session at ZED Forum 2014 - Exporters facing new challenges, held on 20 March in Kyiv and hosted by Forbes Conferences Ukraine and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The participants of the event, including leading Ukrainian exporters, representatives of public authorities, domestic and foreign experts, discussed presence and effectiveness of Ukrainian business in the CIS countries, the European Union and in new markets.

Ms. Mykolska moderated the session "Entrance to and presence in the foreign markets. Passing the barriers." The participants of the session discussed new challenges Ukrainian companies may face, given the deterioration of trade relations with the Russian Federation, as well as the possibility of reorientation of such companies to new markets. One of the most interesting issues was unilateral opening of the EU market for Ukrainian goods and Ukrainian exporters and the question of what Ukrainian companies should do to take advantage of this opening and what difficulties they may face when entering the EU market. In particular, Nataliya Mykolska noted that "questions remained undetermined about the temporary reduction of tariffs on Ukrainian exports to the EU, namely, how they will be reduced given the temporary nature of these measures, how the provided quotas will be distributed, etc. The answers to these questions will certainly affect the export of Ukrainian goods to the EU."

Both speakers and participants noted that the Customs Union market in any case will remain important for Ukrainian companies.

With the purpose of organizing and structuring recommendations made by the participants of ZED Forum 2014 and in order to develop a set of measures aimed at stabilizing and developing the export policy of Ukraine, the participants sent the recommendations to Pavlo Sheremeta, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

Nataliya Mykolska acts as representative from Ukraine to the Expert Committee for disputes resolution under the Agreement on free trade zone and is named among top 2 lawyers in Foreign Trade by Ukrainian Law Firms 2013; recommended by The International Who's Who of Franchise Lawyers 2013The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers 2014, The International Who's Who of Trade & Customs Lawyers 2013 and The International Who's Who Legal: CIS 2011 in Trade & Customs.
