UK: Orrick Accelerates European Expansion by Acquiring Paris office of Watson, Farley & Williams

London & Paris: International law firm Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe today announced the opening of its Paris office as part of its continuing international growth. On Nov 1st 2002, the firm will be joined by Partners, associates and staff from the Paris office of UK law firm, Watson, Farley & Williams.

The new office will be led by highly respected French tax lawyer Stephane Salou and will comprise 7 Partners and approximately 35 associates. It will include top French finance lawyer David Syed, who will be Orrick's Managing Partner for Europe, with responsibility for the development and implementation of the firm's pan-European strategy.

The Paris office has a leading reputation in the French and international market for work on major cross border and domestic transactions involving structured finance, leasing, asset finance, corporate and tax. Clients are major French and international financial institutions and corporates.

The new office is Orrick's first move into continental Europe and > dramatically extends the reach of its market leading global finance practice.

Orrick Chairman Ralph Baxter describes the move as the ideal combination of a major international firm with one of the top-ranked European practices.

The integration of the new Paris office into Orrick's operations will be effective on November 1st with IT, management systems and accounting support coordinated from Orrick's newly opened Global Operations Centre in Wheeling, West Virginia, USA. This facility was launched in June 2002 to provide optimal support for Orrick clients and lawyers at all the firm's locations throughout the world.
