Australia: [Invitation] Respect in the Workplace Workshop - Brisbane
Last Updated: 13 December 2013

We aim to keep our clients informed and up to date about legal and other developments relating to respect in the workplace.

The following one hour workshop can be held at your office, for a fee of $500 plus GST.

Respect in the Workplace workshop

As businesses approach the "silly season", where attendance at work-related functions is commonplace, it is important for employers to remind their employees of what constitutes acceptable conduct both within the workplace itself and at work-related social functions. The delivery of training to employees regarding an employer's respect in the workplace policies is also an essential step in assisting the employer to demonstrate they have taken all reasonable measures to ensure that unlawful conduct is not permitted in the workplace, in the event of a harassment or discrimination complaint.

This workshop will review various classes of unlawful workplace conduct under State and Federal legislation and can be tailored to refer to your business's respect in the workplace policies. The workshop also features an open forum where attendees are encouraged to consider a series of factual scenarios and discuss any issues they can identify regarding inappropriate workplace behaviour.

Topics covered in the workshop include:

  • what behaviour will constitute discrimination, victimisation, sexual harassment, workplace bullying and
  • vilification at law, providing practical examples drawn from relevant legislation and case law
  • where such conduct can occur, including events outside the workplace and on social media
  • what action employees can take if they witness, or are subjected to, any of the above conduct
  • strategies for staff to ensure they do not engage in any of the above conduct.
