Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advises ABB on loan book sale

ABB, the Swiss engineering group, has sold most of its structured finance business to GE Commercial Finance, part of US financial services firm GE Capital, for US$2.3bn. International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised ABB on the transaction.

"Despite the difficult market conditions, this was a good result and we were pleased to be able to assist ABB with this transaction. The sale illustrates that there is still an appetite in the market for acquisitions, and that good prices can be achieved," said Graham Nicholson, corporate partner, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s team included: Ian Poynton, lead partner; Graham Nicholson, partner; corporate associates Duncan Drummond, Isabel Hacker and Patrick Ko and finance associate Mark Glenister.
