Last Updated: 1 November 2013

Ukraine's Top Law Firm opens a representative office in the UK capital and launches Government Relations practice run out of London

Kyiv, October 25, 2013

Sayenko Kharenko, Ukraine's leading law firm with internationally oriented full-service practice, announced the establishment of the Ukrainian law practice in London and the launch of the new practice of Government Relations (GR).

Sayenko Kharenko's presence in London will raise the firm's commitment to existing relationships and enhance the quality of client service to its significant European client base. The new London hub of the firm is located in 46-48 Grosvenor Gardens, SW1, in the very heart of the capital. Iryna Nagayets, a Ukrainian qualified lawyer, who previously worked for the London office of Baker & McKenzie, will be permanently based in London to assist with regular instructions of the firm's UK and other European clientele.

The GR has become a standalone practice of Sayenko Kharenko after many years of representing businesses in some of the most heavily regulated industries of Ukraine's economy, helping clients avoid potential regulatory deal breakers, as well as engagement in some of the most important legislation drafting projects helping to develop, debate, comment on or evaluate legislation from the business prospective. It will provide business-savvy policy guidance and legislative advocacy on cutting-edge matters, in addition to offering access to regulatory agencies and policy-makers in Ukraine. Thus, the firm's extensive capacities in GR will complement our efforts to structure a smooth and predictable framework for our clients who do business in Ukraine.  Andy Hunder, a UK national, who has more than 17 years of experience in managing external affairs and government issues in Ukraine and the UK, joined Sayenko Kharenko as head of the GR practice and will be based in London.

Commenting on the London office opening, Vladimir Sayenko, the firm's Managing Partner, said: "Sayenko Kharenko's presence in London brings us closer to our client's decision-making center. The new GR practice will assist clients treadingon the challenging terrain of government relations in Ukraine and will ensure indigenous insight into Ukraine-specific issues and markets, facilitate the steady dialogue with decision-makers at the local, national and international levels and offer extensive on-the-ground expertise."

Sayenko Kharenko is an internationally recognised full-service law firm in Ukraine and enjoys global reputation for advising on the largest and most challenging projects involving Ukraine.
