Last Updated: 28 September 2013

Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright has today announced that banking and finance partner Leigh Borrello has moved from the Singapore office to Sydney. He will continue to service clients in Asia as well as help build the firm's Australian asset finance practice.

Leigh will strengthen the firm's offering in aircraft finance, ship finance, equipment finance, cross-border leasing and structured finance transactions out of Australia.

Norton Rose Fulbright has one of the largest aviation finance and leasing practices in the Asia-Pacific, with team members based in Beijing, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.

Managing Partner of Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia, Wayne Spanner said,

"We are delighted Leigh is joining us. He has an exceptional reputation for asset finance work in the region and has acted for numerous airlines, including regional flag carriers, major Australian banks, and leasing companies.

"Leigh's appointment continues our focus on having a high proportion of partners who have extensive overseas and cross-border experience."

Since mid-last year, Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia has welcomed three Australian partners to its banking and finance practice from elsewhere in the firm's international network. Chris Redden (project and corporate finance) transferred from the Hong Kong office, Jake Howard (project finance) from the London office and Leigh Borrello from Singapore. Lateral partner hires during this period have included Nuncio D'Angelo from King & Wood Mallesons and Joanne Crew from Herbert Smith Freehills.

In addition to asset finance, Leigh Borrello has skills in project and acquisition finance, restructurings and general banking.
