Australia: Our talented women are winners at 2013 Australasia Women in Business Law Awards

Sydney, 16 August 2013: Clayton Utz partners Fran Rush, Karen Trainor and Kirsten Fish have taken out top honours at the 2013 Euromoney LMG Australasia Women in Business Law Awards, held last night in Sydney.

Fran was named Best Lawyer in the Banking and Finance practice area category over seven other finalists, including another talented colleague, Kathy Santikos. Karen took out the Best Lawyer award in the Environment and Planning category, having earlier this year been named Best Lawyers Australia's Climate Change Lawyer of the Year, Brisbane. Kirsten Fish, also voted by her peers as one of Australia's Best Lawyers in Tax for 2013, was named a Rising Star in Taxation.

Clayton Utz also won city awards for its Canberra and Darwin practices.

Fifteen Clayton Utz partners were shortlisted for practice area awards this year. The other finalists were:

  • Emma Covacevich - Energy and natural resources
  • Linda Evans - Competition / antitrust
  • Karen Evans-Cullen - Mergers and acquisitions / private equity
  • Kate Jordan - TMT
  • Naomi Kelly - Construction
  • Julie Levis - Real estate
  • Brigitte Markovic - Dispute resolution (2012 winner)
  • Louise McCoach - Capital markets
  • Karen O'Flynn - Insolvency and restructuring (2012 winner)
  • Joanna Pugsley - Construction
  • Kathy Santikos - Banking and finance
  • Mary Still - IP litigation
  • Kirsten Webb - Competition / antitrust

Senior associate Maria Ratner was also a finalist for a Rising Star award in Banking.

The Euromoney LMG Australasia Women in Business Law Awards celebrate the achievements of leading women lawyers across the region.
