Brisbane, 24 July 2013: Another crop of talented Queensland artists will have the chance to showcase their work and win $10,000 to help support their endeavours, through the 2013 Clayton Utz LAUNCH Art Award.

Now in its sixth year, the Clayton Utz LAUNCH Art Award is open to Queensland based artists or artists with a strong connection to Queensland, working in any medium.

This year's Award will be judged by the director of the Queensland Centre for Photography (QCP), Maurice Ortega. Born in Mexico City, Mr Ortega holds a Masters of Visual Arts from Griffith University and has been a sessional lecturer at the University for over 10 years in the areas of Art Theory, Art History and Photography. He established his career in Sydney as a staff photographer for the Australian Museum and has been an exhibiting artist for the past 15 years.

Entries in the 2013 Clayton Utz LAUNCH Art Award are open until 30 August. Finalists will be announced on 16 September and the winner will be named at the Award presentation function on 3 October 2013. Both the winner's and finalists' artwork will be exhibited in the Brisbane office of Clayton Utz in Riparian Plaza for 12 months.

Since its launch, the Clayton Utz LAUNCH Art Award has helped both emerging and established artists to showcase their talents and further their careers, including photographic and performance artist Henri van Noordenburg (2012 winner), Kate Bernauer (2011), Haruka Sawa (2010), Gemma Smith (2009), Dane Lovett (2008, joint winner) and Martin Smith (2008, joint winner).

Clayton Utz would like to acknowledge and thank Lethbridge Gallery for managing this year's Award, for the third year running.
