Last Updated: 18 June 2013

Best global commodity/trade finance law firm for third consecutive year

Best trade law firm in Asia-Pacific for fifth consecutive year

Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright has been named best global commodity / trade finance law firm for a third consecutive year, and best trade law firm in Asia-Pacific for a fifth consecutive year in the prestigious annual Trade Finance Awards for Excellence.

Award winners are selected by a combination of votes cast by leading figures within the industry and by a panel made up of Trade Finance's editorial team.

This year's double win coincides with the completed combination of leading international legal practice Norton Rose and leading US law firm Fulbright & Jaworski LLP to create a new, global legal practice, Norton Rose Fulbright.

Through the combination, Norton Rose Fulbright has coast to coast US law capability and significantly enhanced depth and breadth of resources across its key industry sectors, including the energy, infrastructure, mining and commodities and shipping sectors, which complement the capabilities of the structured trade and commodity finance practice.

Nick Grandage, London-based structured trade and commodity finance partner, Norton Rose Fulbright, commented:

"Our trade and commodity finance practice has continued to grow internationally, enhancing our ability to serve our clients around the world. This double award win is testament to that continued growth."

"We have built a strong presence in emerging markets - in the past year alone we have advised on trade and commodity finance transactions in more than 50 countries and we are already working on numerous matters with our new colleagues in the US. Latin America is an increasingly important region for commodity finance and the practice will benefit from a team of more than 30 Latin America specialist lawyers in addition to our offices in Colombia and Venezuela, as well as additional strength in the oil and gas sector."

Yu-En Ong, Singapore-based partner, Norton Rose Fulbright added:

"These award wins are a valuable endorsement for a practice that is genuinely market leading in Asia and elsewhere."

"It reflects the broad expertise and diverse range of transactions we have carried out across our practice in the trade and commodity sector. To be recognised for this award again is a significant endorsement of the work we have undertaken on behalf of our clients across the globe reflecting increasingly sophisticated trade activity both within the Asia Pacific and outbound business from the Asia Pacific. With our connectivity across Europe, Africa and now North America we are even better placed to service our clients."
