The appointments follow the announcement in June 2002 that Adrian Harris has joined Orrick's London office to build a European corporate restructuring practice as part of the firm's continuing strategy to develop a significant English law capability in London in its core practice areas.

Commenting on the appointments, Michael Bacon, Orrick's Partner-in-Charge of International Offices, said, "Following the appointment of Adrian Harris, Carl and Yomi are further key assets in the implementation of the London component of the firm's wider pan-European strategy. We plan to build London with talented international lawyers such as Carl, Adrian and Yomi in tandem with the development of our other European offices. This will allow us to provide our global clients with US, English and local law support and to undertake complex cross border transactions utilising the firm's office network in Europe, the US and Asia. A significant corporate, M&A and finance practice capability in London is crucial if Orrick is to meet its global ambitions to be considered as one of the world's leading finance and corporate law firms."

Liederman added, "I am delighted to be joining Orrick at this exciting time in the firm's international development. I have been extremely impressed by the firm's leadership and broad-based commitment to its international strategy. A determination to actively grow its London and European business and its vision for the future, matched my own international focus. The strategic fit in terms of European markets and the core US and Asian business centres in which Orrick operates ideally suits my client base and my international practice".
